Late Makhdoomzada Syed Hassan Mahmood, the Chief Minister of the Princely State of Bahawalpur conceived the idea of a premier ‘Public School’ at Bahawalpur in 1950's. His Highness, The Ameer of Bahawalpur, Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi V laid the foundation stone of Sadiq Public School on 4th March 1953 and the senior school building was completed within a short space of nine mouths. Sadiq opened up its warm heart on the chilly morning of 18th January 1954 with only 37 students. ln order to commemorate this occasion, a Grand Darbar was organized in the same month by the school administration. His Highness, The Ameer of Bahawalpur, Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi V graced the occasion along with Makhdoomzada Syed Hassan Mahmood. Miss Salma Mahmood, the first girl student of the school presented a bouquet to His Highness and welcoming address was read by founding Principal Khan Anwar Sikandar Khan.
